FAQs about Bedding

What size is a full bed?

A full bed in the US, also called a double, measures 137x190 cm (54x75 inches). It's narrower than a queen by 15 cm and shorter than a king.

Full size bed sheets are sized to fit this mattress with overhang for tuck and depth. Our 140 cm wide fitted sheets fit US Full mattresses snugly, with the 35 cm pocket accommodating standard and deep mattresses both.

What's included in a full size bed sheet set?

A typical full size bed sheet set includes one fitted sheet (140x200 cm for our Full sizing), one flat sheet (cut larger for tuck), and two standard pillowcases (50x70 cm). Some sets add a duvet cover or extra pillowcases. Check the product page for the exact contents; we sell pieces separately so you can build the set you actually want, instead of paying for items you'll never use.

Will full size bed sheets fit a deep mattress?

Yes, if the pocket depth matches the mattress. Standard mattresses are 25 to 30 cm deep; pillow-top and modern foam mattresses can run 35 cm or more.

Our full size fitted sheets use a 35 cm pocket as standard, designed to fit modern deep mattresses without popping off the corner. Measure the mattress depth before ordering if your bed is unusually thick.

Percale or sateen for full size bed sheets?

Percale full size sheets feel crisp and cool, the hotel-bed standard. They suit warm sleepers and the structured feel of a tucked bed.

Sateen full size sheets feel silkier and slightly warmer, with a softer drape. They suit people who pull the sheet up to their face and want a more enveloping surface. Both come in 100% Portuguese cotton; the choice is texture, not quality.

How many sheet sets do I need for a full bed?

Two sheet sets is the practical minimum, three is the comfortable standard. Sheets should be washed weekly for sleep hygiene; with two sets you can wash one while the other is on the bed.

A third set lets you handle a delayed laundry day without losing rotation. Quality sheets washed weekly last five years or more, which makes the up-front investment in multiple sets straightforward.

How do I care for full size cotton sheets?

Wash at 40 to 60 degrees Celsius with a mild detergent. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres and reduces breathability.

Tumble dry on low or line dry. Iron percale while slightly damp if you want the flat hotel-smooth finish; sateen needs minimal ironing. The fabric softens steadily over the first year of washes and then holds steady for years.

Full Size Bed Sheets, Made in Portugal

A full bed is the most-bought mattress size in the US after queen, and the hardest to dress properly because so much bedding is cut for queen or king instead. Sheets that fit a full bed without bunching or shrinking off the corners are surprisingly hard to find.

Ours are 100% cotton, sized 140x200 cm to fit US Full mattresses (137x190 cm) with comfortable overhang. Available in percale and sateen weaves, with a 35 cm pocket that holds on standard and deep mattresses both. Two pillowcases per set, plus a flat sheet cut larger for hospital-corner tuck.

The cotton is woven at Lintexport in Portugal, our mill since 1967. Long-staple cotton, traditional looms, finished without harsh chemicals. The corners are reinforced; the elastic is rated for years, not months.

A €98 fitted sheet used 200 nights a year for five years works out at five cents a night. The cheap alternative that thins or pops off the mattress within eighteen months ends up costing more across the same span. Portuguese cotton, properly woven, is the version that pays for itself.

Made in Portugal, since 1967. The full bed, properly dressed.
