FAQs about Bedding

How to choose the right fitted sheet?

Fitted sheets are sized to your mattress width. European, Japanese and Brazilian beds use widths of 140, 160, 180 or 200 cm — all with a standard 200 cm length and 35 cm pocket depth. UK beds follow Double (140 cm), King (150 cm), Superking (180 cm) and Emperor (200 cm) naming. US, Australian and Canadian beds use Queen (153 cm) and King (193 cm), with a slightly deeper 41 cm pocket and a 203 cm length to match their longer mattresses.

Duvet covers and flat sheets come in two cuts: a narrower cut for smaller beds (140/160 cm, UK Double/King, US Queen) and a wider cut for larger ones (180/200 cm, UK Superking/Emperor, US King). If you're between sizes, go up — a slightly oversized duvet always drapes better than a tight one.

Get those three right and the sheet stays put, washes well, and feels right under you.

What size fitted sheet should I order?

Match your mattress width: 140, 160, 180, or 200 cm. The length is standard at 200 cm. If you're between widths, size up; a too-loose sheet pinches better than a too-tight one tearing.

The pocket is 35 cm deep, which fits most modern mattresses. Measure yours at the deepest point if you've added a topper.

How deep are Marshmellow fitted sheets?

Our pocket is 35 cm deep, which fits most modern mattresses including those with pillow-tops or thin toppers. Measure your mattress at its deepest point before you order. If yours is over 35 cm, get in touch and we'll help you find a fit.

How do I pick between percale, sateen, and flannel fitted sheets?

Percale is crisp and breathable. Sateen is silkier and a little warmer. Flannel is brushed for cold months.

The fabric is the bit your skin presses against all night, so it's worth thinking about. Percale for hot sleepers, sateen for the hotel feeling, flannel for winter.

Where are Marshmellow fitted sheets made?

Every Marshmellow fitted sheet is woven and finished in Portugal, in the same Lintexport mill we've been running since 1967. That continuity is why our cotton holds its shape and softens instead of thinning.

How do I care for fitted sheets so they last?

Wash on a cool to warm cycle (30-40°C) with mild detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener, since the softener coats the elastic and ruins it. Tumble dry on low or line dry.

What makes Marshmellow's luxury fitted sheets different?

The cotton, the cut, and the elastic. Most luxury fitted sheets use generic elastic that gives up early. Ours stays tight because we specify it ourselves, in a Portuguese mill running since 1967.

The result is a fitted sheet that fits at the start, fits at the end, and feels good in between.

Luxury Fitted Sheets

A fitted sheet is the only piece of bedding that needs to actually fit.

Width matters. Pocket depth matters more than people think. A sheet that pings off the corner at 4am is a sheet you'll learn to resent.

Ours are woven in Portugal, since 1967. Percale for warm sleepers. Sateen for the silky drape. Flannel for cold months.

Fitted sheets in 140, 160, 180, and 200 cm widths. Standard 200 cm length, with a 35 cm pocket that fits today's deeper mattresses. No corner-pinging.

Other fitted sheets relax their grip after fifty washes. Ours don't. Luxury fitted sheets with elastic that holds and cotton that softens, both at the same time.
