FAQs about Bedding

Why choose 100% cotton fitted sheets over a blend?

A cotton-polyester blend washes well and resists creasing, which is why hotels use it on heavy turnover. At home, blends trap heat against the body and feel plastic by year two. Pure cotton breathes, softens with washing and sleeps cooler.

The trade-off is a sheet that needs a touch more care. Most home sleepers find the swap worth making within a week.

Will a fitted sheet fit a deep mattress?

Marshmellow's fitted sheets are cut with deep pockets to fit modern mattress depths, including most pillow-top and memory-foam mattresses. The elastic is designed to keep the sheet held to the corners through nightly use.

If the mattress is unusually deep, each product page lists the maximum pocket depth before checkout.

Percale or sateen for fitted sheets?

Percale is the crisp, matte, breathable option. It snaps cool against the skin and softens with every wash, which makes it the right choice for warm sleepers and summer beds.

Sateen has a quieter sheen and a denser drape, closer to a boutique-hotel hand. It sleeps slightly warmer than percale. Flannel is the third option, brushed cotton for the coldest months.

How do I keep the elastic from giving out?

Wash cool to warm with a normal amount of detergent and no fabric softener. Softener coats the elastic and shortens its working life.

Tumble dry on low rather than high. High dryer heat is the most common cause of elastic failure, ahead of anything else.

What sizes are cotton fitted sheets available in?

Single, double, queen and king, sized for EU, UK and US beds. The three king sizes are noticeably different and a UK king fitted sheet will not fit a US king mattress.

Each product page lists exact dimensions and maximum pocket depth before checkout. If the mattress is between sizes, sizing up sits better than sizing tight.

How long should a cotton fitted sheet last?

A well-made cotton fitted sheet, washed properly, lasts five to seven years of nightly use. Failure usually shows at the elastic before it shows at the fabric.

Rotating two sets, one on the bed, one in the cupboard, extends the working life of both by quite a lot.

Cotton Fitted Sheets That Stay on the Mattress

A cotton fitted sheet is the piece of bedding that quietly decides whether the rest of the bed looks made or not. The right one stays tight on the corners across years of laundry and never needs the morning wrestle that cheaper alternatives demand.

Marshmellow makes cotton fitted sheets in percale, sateen and flannel. Percale is the breathable, crisp, summer choice. Sateen has the quieter sheen and the denser drape. Flannel is the brushed-cotton version for the coldest months.

Each sheet is cut with deep pockets to fit modern mattress depths and elastic designed to keep the sheet held through nightly use. The cotton is woven and finished under Lintexport, the textile operation that has been working with cotton since 1967.

Sized for EU, UK and US beds in single, double, queen and king, the range covers most homes and most mattresses without compromise on pocket depth. The three king sizes are not the same and matter.

Cost-per-night is the right frame. A €100 fitted sheet used nightly across five years is a cent or two per sleep, and outlasts the cheaper sheets it quietly replaces.
