Our mill, Portugal
Stronger than cotton
Flax fibre is two to three times stronger than cotton and gains strength when wet — which is the whole story of a cloth you spill on, scrub and wash hot, over and over.
Softens, never thins
Pure linen, never blended. Blends crease less and absorb less. Wash after wash this relaxes into softness while the fabric itself holds its body.

Why linen creases, and why that is the point
Linen comes from flax — rain-fed, no irrigation, a fraction of the water cotton needs. It breathes and releases moisture faster than any other natural fibre, which is why a linen napkin actually dries your hands instead of moving the water around.
The trade-off is honest: it creases. That is the fibre showing itself, and it is why a linen table looks lived-in rather than laminated.

How does the 15% work?

Does linen crease? Do I have to iron it?
Yes, it creases — that is the fibre, not a defect. If you want it crisp, iron slightly damp on the linen setting. If you do not, lay it while still a little damp and it settles by the time you eat.
Will red wine and olive oil ruin it?
Less often than you fear. Linen releases stains more readily than cotton because the fibre is smooth. Rinse cold as soon as you can, then wash at 40°. For oil, a little washing-up liquid on the mark first. Never iron a stain in.
Which size tablecloth do I need?
Measure your table and add 25–30 cm each side for a drop that reaches the lap. Our 250 × 170 cm suits tables up to about 190 × 110 cm; the 350 × 170 cm covers a long table seating eight to ten. Between sizes, take the larger.
Is it a good gift?
It is the classic Portuguese wedding and housewarming present for a reason: it gets used every day. The dinner party set is the safe choice; if you do not know their colours, Off-White goes with every table there is.
